The Middle East Commissioner of the International Commission for Human Rights and its adviser on the United Nations affairs in Geneva, Ambassador Dr. Haitham Abu Saeed, after contacting the Chairman of the Legal Committee of the International Courts, attorney Dr. Ma’an Al-Asaad stated that the Amer Al-Fakhouri case is linked to crimes in southern Lebanon against civilians, men and women, and minors who were killed by him, and he is wanted by the security and judicial authorities according to the applicable local laws.

Ambassador Abu Saeed added, after interventions and appeals by the families of the victims that Al-Fakhouri targeted when he was an officer in the Lahd Army in the south, which was working under the command of the Israeli army, it was necessary to move judicially to achieve justice, and this, according to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights 2200 thousand (d- 21) In the paragraphs related to the trials, their origins, and their ramifications, to show and take away from his rights, this is what the happiest lawyer did base on the assignment given to him.

Ambassador Abu Saeed expressed surprise at the political pressures exerted by the diplomatic administration in the United States of America against the government and people of Lebanon and their blackmail in an inhuman manner with the launch of a random threat if any legal action took place against “Amer Al-Fakhouri”, as this is considered a clear interference in the judicial affairs of a foreign country.

He concluded by pointing out that this matter should be put as an end to the international community so that things do not slip away and the Lebanese community faces cropping to bring its rights to the way cowboys were, as was happening previously in America, and this matter lacks social justice and the most basic moral values.

Starting over in a new country as a refugee can seem daunting or even impossible, especially when it comes to finding a job or resuming a career.
When Tom Crane Mulinda arrived in Denmark from Uganda four years ago, he had no place to stay, no friends and no professional connections.“I did not know where to start from,” he said in a video interview. “So it was really very hard for me.”
Through a refugee ambassador program supported by the U.S. Embassy in Denmark, the American Chamber of Commerce and the Association of New Danes, Mulinda started an internship with the nonprofit study abroad program DIS Copenhagen. This internship eventually led to a job with the company, where he helps students acclimate to the city and master the logistics of studying abroad.
Now, Mulinda says his own life has changed for the better. He is living his dreams in Copenhagen.

One of many

He is just one of thousands with similar stories. Between 2014 and 2015, approximately 36,000 refugees arrived in Denmark from countries such as Syria, Somalia and Uganda.
To welcome highly skilled refugees to their new home, the Association of New Danes, with the support of the U.S. Embassy, offers mentorship and internship programs. Of 250 participants in the programs, most report that the experience gives them better access to the Danish job market and that they are closer to finding a job.
“The programs have fostered a huge sense of community within the companies that have run the programs,” said Trine Lundgaard Hoffmann, the project manager for the Association of New Danes. She said the mentors in companies that are helping refugees use words such as “pride” and “team spirit” when reporting on their experiences for internal surveys.

From flying cars to robotic gloves, the newest technology was on display at one of the world’s largest tech shows: CES, formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Show, held January 7–10 in Las Vegas.
More than 170,000 people from 160 countries attended CES 2020 to see some of the latest innovations. Here are a few of them:

Robotic gloves

The Neofect Smart Glove connects to an app that uses games and other activities to help patients recover from strokes or other ailments that limit movement in the hands. Neofect was founded in June 2010 by two students at the Darden Graduate School of Business in the University of Virginia, Hoyoung Ban and Scott Kim, and by Young Choi at the University of Southern California, according to a database of technology startups.

Medical magic wands

MedWand Solutions Inc., headquartered in Las Vegas, created a handheld device that contains 10 diagnostic tools to measure vital signs such as heart rate, body temperature, breathing rate and oxygen level. By using the MedWand, doctors can carry out examinations over the internet and see patients’ vitals instantaneously. This will allow patients to get medical care without having to travel and enable doctors to help more people.

Creating the next generation of coders

The Code Jumper is a set of physical pods that teaches simple computer-programming concepts to blind or visually impaired children. It was developed by a partnership between Microsoft Corporation, in Seattle, and American Printing House for the Blind in Louisville, Kentucky. American Printing House is a nonprofit organization that creates accessible products for education, work, and independent living for blind and visually impaired people in Louisville, Kentucky.

Flying taxis

Uber Technologies Inc. and Hyundai Motor Company are teaming up to build a fleet of flying taxis to take travelers above traffic at speeds up to 290 kilometers per hour (180 mph). The taxis take off and land vertically using rotors, like helicopters, but fly using their wings, like planes. They will fly 300–600 meters off the ground, and because of their all-electric design they will be quieter than regular aircraft, according to Hyundai.

The International Human Rights Committee (Geneva) has expressed its deep concern about the events taking place in the Middle East, especially after the assassination of the Quds Force Commander, Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

The Office of the Commissioner for the Middle East indicated to the committee and its adviser on United Nations affairs in Geneva, Ambassador Dr. Haitham Abu Saeed that he had received information indicating that Iran had carried out the military response that threatened it with the use of twenty-two ballistic missiles (22) of the type “Fatih 313” in this process yesterday.
The missile has a range of five hundred kilometers (500) and a second missile called “qiyam” with a range of eight hundred kilometers (800). These types of missiles are not detected by systems and radars for the speed of those missiles, and they possess jamming systems on radars and are also equipped with multiple warheads.

The office of Ambassador Abu Saeed indicated that it is necessary to pressure all the conflicting parties in the Middle East and replace the logic of military force with the concept of soft diplomacy in order to rotate all the corners of the dispute and this is better today, especially as Iran has developed its missile and ballistic arsenals and winged cruise missiles.

He added that the United States of America and its political administration had done an abusive act by assassinating General Soleimani and violating all diplomatic and legal norms and showed hostility towards Middle Eastern society through statements indicating indifference to all forces in the region, which may take the field situation to the extent that it cannot be followed.

Ambassador Abu Saeed feared a large number of military skirmishes of this magnitude from negative interactions that take all countries of the world into a security catastrophe that no one can control their results.
The statement expressed its regret for the hundreds of deaths and injuries among the American army in the bombing of military installations in Ain al-Assad and the postponement and the American embassy in Kurdistan as a result of unaccounted policies by US President Donald Trump, hoping to resort to dialogue in solving all outstanding issues and spare the region security shocks There is no profit for anyone who thinks he has power alone.

What did you benefit from your immigration to Uncle Sam’s country?

America is one of the most important countries to which immigrants come every year for decades, and because of the availability of work first, and secondly to me that it is a country of freedoms and equality among all people. Which means that there is no difference between who is white or black, or who has a language or accent of his own. All the people that come to America are looking for it before looking for money. Is there any benefit from these benefits that distinguish America? It is well known that African people represent a large percentage in America, and Mauritanians represent the smallest percentage of Africans in the United States of America. Is the small Mauritanian community in this large land between them understanding and affection? It is normal to be influenced by human culture of others, but to be influenced by the positive side of them, in America there is no difference between who is white or black because skin does not determine the identity of man and this is what we know in Islam.

We, as Mauritanians, have emigrated from our country to Uncle Sam’s country because of the segregation of society for us. All these baseless labels were invented only by society to put barriers between citizens and became bigger and bigger so that everyone who became of that community travelled and became educated and saw culture of the other great countries and awareness look at the culture of the others took the positive of their culture .

So most of the young people of this land, which put barriers between human, have decided to migrate to a country that does not ask them the usual question people in their community ask.

Did Mauritanian migrants succeed in overcoming the complex of society?
Today, after decades of immigration to America, where they became citizens of civil papers rather than cultural papers, today immortalize their glory through community elections that, instead of being reunited, have sent them back for decades.

What is the real reason behind this?
Mauritanian by nature, son of desert ,customs and superstitions. It is difficult for him to abandon those myths to me that it is my shortcut is an integral part of his culture, which was destroyed intellectually! Today, the Mauritanian community in America is divided into two parts, the “Bidan” section and the “Kore” section, as they come from different countries. But on the contrary. Is the Mauritanian community has been traumatized by civilization in America?

Why do you take the downside of returning your society to the land of freedoms. However, most of the Mauritanians who have become refugees in the United States of America have their asylum papers on the basis that they are from the marginalized segment of Mauritania and are looking for the figures who have become prominent in the world from the marginalized segment in their homeland in order to draw with them pictures proving that they are from that, and when they get The papers return their drawers to their habits that did not work more than what was corrupted.

Despite the different colors and languages, you are one people and from one country.
Will this end the schism that destroyed you in your country and did not leave it and brought it with you to the country of freedom? Or is it the curse of the tribe and ethnicity that accompanies you Wherever you go?

“Sheeko Sheeko” says the storyteller. The students respond: “Sheeko Xariir.”
And so the teacher began the story and students listened, reminiscent of the way Somali children have gathered around storytellers for centuries, ready to learn.
The call and response — “Sheeko” means “story” and “Xariir” means “tell us” — started this year’s Mogadishu Book Fair (MBF) with a nod to past cultural traditions and a reach to a promising future.
This was the fourth year of the Somali-driven campaign for literacy and learning supported by the United States Agency for International Development. As many as 2,000 people each day participated in the three-day event in the Waberi district of Mogadishu.

“What is striking about the MBF is that its audience is young and part of a generation that has never known anything but conflict,” says U.S. Embassy Mogadishu Deputy Chief of Mission Brian Neubert. “The United States government supports Somali-led initiatives, like the MBF, launched by and for this generation to define themselves beyond conflict — to debate, collaborate and sustain Somalia’s new narrative and identity.”

Only 33% of Somali children ages 6 to 13 are enrolled in primary school, drastically below the 74% average of low-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Schooling opportunities tend to be available in more secure, urban areas, thus disadvantaging rural, poor students from accessing an education. Literacy is critical for building skills to obtain jobs, but also to build a sense of a Somali shared identity and purpose, vital for Somalia’s stability.
“With 3 million school-aged kids out of school, we need a collective effort and commitment to reach all of Somalia’s children,” says Brian Frantz, USAID deputy mission director in Somalia.
Storytelling as a communal bond

In the storytelling tent at the MBF, Somali children sit cross-legged, their faces full of amazement, as the Somali folktale “Dawaco Iyo Yaxaas” (The Fox and the Crocodile) comes to life with the beating of drums and the clapping of hands.
The children hear about a crocodile that lends her large tongue to a fox that refuses to return it because she wants to forever taste delicious foods. The crocodile learns that good deeds are not always rewarded. This folktale was printed under an education project USAID previously funded for dissemination in classrooms across Somalia.

Around the world, there is an underrepresentation of women in science and technology-related careers. In order to change that, a U.S. embassy recently gathered European and American girls to learn from experts from organizations such as Google, the digital-search division of Alphabet Inc.; Intel Corporation, a computer data firm; and NASA, the U.S. space agency.
As experts led the students in conducting science experiments and writing computer code, the girls simultaneously gained leadership skills.

The camp, called the “Women in Science / Girls STEAM Camp” — STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design, and Mathematics — was the first of its kind held in the European Union.
Led by Girl Up, a leadership development initiative of the U.N. Foundation working to advance gender equality, and hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia, the camp brought together 100 secondary school students from Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Poland and the U.S.
The European Union reports that of their 18 million scientists and engineers, only 41 percent are women. The two-week program may well tip that just a bit, as 100 girls left the camp enthusiastic about those professions.

The girls worked in small teams to propose viable technological solutions that would benefit their communities. “It really is incredible to see what happens” when a diverse profile of girls work together on a science and technology project, said Bailey Leuschen, director of programs at Girl Up.
Elizabete Bergmane, a camp participant, said that the camp not only provided invaluable education but also fostered what she expects will be lifelong friendships.

Bergmane, a sophomore from Latvia, wants to become a surgeon and invent a lifesaving technology. “I got educated about the unequal rights of women in the field,” she said, but more important, “I got inspired to keep on working hard to reach my goals.”
