Political activism to restore democracy in Venezuela remains very strong, according to a new report (in Spanish).

The Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflict, an NGO, counted nearly twice as many street demonstrations during the first half of 2019 as in the same period a year earlier.

In addition to protesting the erosion of democracy, Venezuelans came out into the streets with other demands.

The Trump administration has responded to the Venezuelan crisis by working politically and economically to isolate the illegitimate former regime. The United States has provided more than $376 million in humanitarian, economic and development aid for the Venezuelan regional crisis response since 2016.
